Dancer. Teacher. Choreographer. Rose performs all of these roles with equal passion. A dancer since childhood, she trained in ballet, jazz, tap and ballroom before finding her love for Argentine Tango. Since 1999 Rose has studied with tango luminaries in San Francisco and Buenos Aires including Christy Cote, Chelsea Eng, Oscar Mandagaran and Georgina Vargas of Forever Tango, Carlos Gavito, captain of Forever Tango, Mariam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo, choreographers on So You Think You Can Dance.
Rose graduated with high honors from Ballroom Dance Teachers College where she studied under Diane Jarmalo. She has since co-authored the syllabus for DVIDA, writing four manuals for Argentine Tango for Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. She also wrote the curriculum for master teachers on how to teach Argentine Tango.
As a principal dancer in Christy Cote’s LiberTango Dancers she performed at such events as the 49ers half time show and the Ethnic Dance Festival. In 2014, Rose joined Tango Con’Fusion, the all-women’s dance company, and taught and performed at Johanna Copes’ Lady’s Tango Week in Buenos Aires, an event that draws dancers from all over the world. In May of 2015 she danced with the Debbie Goodwin Dance Company in their debut performance in the San Francisco Performing Arts Festival.
Rose was a co-choreographer for two Alma del Tango student performances, “Tango Magic” in 2014, and “Moment to Moment,” in 2015. And, she was a guest artist in the 2013 student show, “Close Embrace: A Tango Love Story.” She also teaches at Alma del Tango in Marin and at the Pick School of Ballroom Dance in San Francisco.
Rose is married to dancer Anton Koukareko. The couple welcomed their little tanguero, Edmund, in time for Christmas, 2015.
